This modern addition was meant to minimize impact to the original design by renowned architect John Yeon who was a key figure in the Northwest modern architecture movement. We designed a master suite that extends the private spaces and in so doing creates an external courtyard between the new and old structures. To minimize impact to the original, distinctive roof line, we sited the addition away from the existing house and connected the two with a breezeway. The east wall features a bi-fold door system while the stucco exterior minimizes textural contrast to the siding pattern on the original home. Other features include a pivoting orb fireplace and over-sized shower and soaking tub.
