This small, 750 s.f. home was in desperate need of a remodel. With it's concrete floors and California style detailing, it was a perfect canvas for doing a more modern addition to bump it just over 1000 s.f. This was a three month design build project for our firm.
The new addition afforded the opportunity to create a "public" spine from entry to kitchen. This space was designed to be an open floor plan and to connect the living space to the outdoor courtyard, making the house feel larger than it's footprint would imply. A polished concrete floor with in-slab radiant heating connects the new and existing spaces. The private areas are delineated by a step up and include 2 bedrooms, utility and laundry room, bathroom and study space.
