Badly run down and abused over the years, this 1800 s.f. house was a diamond in the rough. Our first design-build remodel, we lovingly restored this Portland style home with modern style and amenities. The biggest improvement was opening up the wall between the kitchen and dining to create a concrete bar countertop. Removing this wall allows one to see completely from one end of the house to another creating visual frames and architectural interest. We added such features as a 3/4 bath with glass mosaic tile, a mud room porch with a steel sash window reclaimed from an old warehouse, concrete countertops, accent lighting, and custom steel fencing with stained woven cedar boards.
